A bird struck one of the engines of the Boeing 737-800 Dubai-bound airplane shortly after departure from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital, yesterday at around 9:00 p.m. local time. Following the bird strike, the engine of the FlyDubai passenger plane, which was carrying 167 passengers, caught fire. According to the Nepal Civil Aviation Authority, after analyzing the situation, the pilots and technical team decided to turn off the aircraft’s problematic engine and continue the flight. The airport implemented emergency landing protocols during the plane’s landing in Dubai.
