Boat Sinks in Central African Republic: 15 dead

A boat carrying 300 passengers on the Mpoko River towards the Mokelo village in the Ombella-Mpoko province for the burial of the remains of a group leader in the capital, Bangui, in the Central African Republic, capsized. The passengers immediately jumped into the water after the boat began sinking, while people nearby rushed near them with canoes. At least 15 people were dead, and several went missing.

It is estimated that the boat was carrying more passengers than its capacity.
