Bomb attack on freight train in Thailand

A bombing attack was carried out on a 15-car freight train in Thailand that was carrying plastics to Malaysia. Eleven of the cars derailed but the section, where 4 crew members were during the explosion, remained on the rails. No one injured in the attack.

Police stated that the attack was carried out with a 26-kilogram homemade bomb, and that a 2-meter pit formed under the tracks where the bomb was placed. The incident is suspected to be an act of terrorism or theft.

The Hatyai (Thailand) – Padang Besar (Malaysia) train line was closed.
