Border Wall Nears Completion on Türkiye-Iran Frontier

Construction of a security wall along the Türkiye-Iran border in Van, eastern Türkiye, is nearing completion, with 142.5 kilometers finished in the Başkale district. The project, launched in 2021, covers part of the 302-kilometer border line.

Authorities use two systems depending on terrain, combining concrete and steel barriers topped with barbed wire. The wall is supported by thermal cameras, electro-optical towers and round-the-clock patrols to prevent illegal crossings and smuggling.
