British Prime Minister Boris Johnson attended police raid of smugglers in Liverpool this morning, dressed as a police officer. He said that he aims to end the activities of thousands of drug gangs operating across the country. Stating that according to the data, more than 300,000 crimes in the country are committed by drug users, Johnson said, “We need to increase rehab. The lives of drug offenders are chaotic. They need to be taken off drugs, they need to be put into rehab. We cannot simply arrest them time after time and put them back in prison again,”
The Ministry of the Interior stated that 300,000 crimes, including theft and robbery, were caused by drug addicts, and half of the murder offenders used drugs.
The government has announced that it will prepare a 10-year plan to tackle drug crime in England and Wales, with £780m in funding allocated for it. It was stated that the plan also includes £300m to combat the more than 2,000 drug gangs in the country, while in some cases the driver’s license or passports of drug users will be confiscated.
