The Hassanabad Bridge in the Hunza region of Pakistan’s Gilgit-Baltistan province was collapsed due to the flood caused by the overflow of the glacial lake. Hunza Superintendent of Police (SP) Zahoor Ahmed stated that the glacial lake started to melt due to the heat and the flood that occurred destroyed the bridge. Also, state police announced that traffic was diverted onto the Sas Valley road after the bridge collapsed. In the footage recorded by the local people, it’s seen that the flood destroyed the bridge and dragged its parts. Local authorities announced that civilians were evacuated to safe areas due to the flood, and that the police and search and rescue teams continued their work in the area.
