Bucha residents seek fresh food in looted markets

Many workplaces were badly damaged and some were looted during the clashes in Bucha, which was the target of heavy bombardment by the Russian army. Days of fighting erupted into a food crisis, and Russian forces took control of the city. After the Russian forces withdrew from the city, control reverted to Ukrainian forces, and humanitarian aid, particularly food aid, began to be distributed to the people. While Ukrainian forces prevented looting in the city by enforcing strict security measures, civilians flocked to some partially damaged markets in search of unspoiled food and basic necessities. Civilians examined each product individually in an attempt to meet their needs.
