Bus Crash in India Kills 36 Onboard

At least 36 people were killed when an overcrowded bus carrying 50 passengers veered off the road into a 200-meter-deep ravine in Uttarakhand’s Almora district in India. Police noted that the bus, with a capacity of 42, may have been overloaded. Some passengers were reportedly thrown from the bus into a nearby river.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed sorrow over the accident, instructing swift relief and rescue efforts and arranging air transport for the critically injured. Dhami also announced compensation for the victims’ families and financial support for the injured, while ordering the dismissal of regional transport officials amid the investigation.
