A business owner named Basri Tezel, was devastated when he returned to his workplace that was burned by the wildfires that rendered many residential areas unusable in Türkiye’s Çanakkale province. Escaping the area at the last moment, the business owner came back to see that not only his business place but also his animals were wasted by the flames. He burst into tears when he saw that his cat was alive during the interview.
“The fire spread very quickly. We barely saved our own lives. This was where I earned my bread for 20 years. We were making souvenirs here with my family. I had both poultry and small cattle here. Most of it burned to death. I only have one cat left. I was going to have my daughter’s wedding in a week but lost everything overnight,” he said.
