California Wildfires Burn 13,000 Acres After Lightning Strikes

Wildfires sparked by lightning in California have scorched 13,000 acres across 20 locations since Tuesday, forcing evacuations in Tuolumne, Calaveras, and Chinese Camp. More than 600 firefighters are battling the flames, which have destroyed homes and historic sites.

CalFire said two historic buildings and a cemetery were lost, though nearby landmarks, including an 1854 church, were spared. Governor Gavin Newsom announced full mobilization of state and federal resources to contain the blazes.
