Canada Imposes 25 Percent Tariff on US Goods Worth $29.8 CAD

Canadian ministers announced at a joint press conference regarding retaliation against the US yesterday that an additional 25 percent tariff will be imposed on various products worth 29.8 billion Canadian dollars imported from the US as of 00:01 local time tonight.

Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Finance, stated that the Canadian government may impose additional tariffs in response to the US plan to impose additional tariffs on other products containing steel and aluminum and added, “We recognize these challenging and uncertain times. However, we will use all tools to protect Canadian workers and businesses.”

The new tariff list includes sports equipment, computers and cast iron products.
