An explosion occurred in a vehicle crossing the Rainbow Bridge over the Niagara River on the US-Canada border. Two people in the vehicle died, and a border patrol employee was injured during the incident. Initially labeled as a potential “terrorist attack” by the FBI, New York Governor Kathy Hochul and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas later stated that there was no confirmation to support this claim.
According to a senior US official, the vehicle, traveling at high speed, collided with a power pole while on the bridge, resulting in the subsequent explosion. The cause of the explosion is not yet known.
