Carnival ”fifth season” in germany starts despite record covid-19 cases

The Cologne Carnival, traditionally called as “Fifth Season” began in the cities on the bank of the Rhine in Germany despite new record number of fresh Covid-19 cases. The carnival is celebrated every year on November 11 with participation of thousands across the country. Mayor Henriette Reker initiated the season in Cologne, which is seen the center of the event. Fully vaccinated people as part of 2G rule are allowed to enter the event. Thousands of costumed people stormed the city center.

The new record number of 39,676 cases reported yesterday in Germany. It is feared that the new carnival season will further increase the number of cases, where the case record was broken for the second day in a row.
