cartel attack in Mexico’s Celaya kills 3

Cartel members carried out attacks at several points in the Celaya city of the Guanajuato state in Mexico, killing 3 people, including 1 police officer. The attackers also set fire to many vehicles and closed the roads in the city to traffic. A bus driver, one of the casualties, was shot dead after opposing the cartel for burning his bus.

Federal and local security forces launched an operation into the attack.

Guanajuato Governor Diego Rodriguez Vallejo stated that 7 criminals have been arrested so far, and most of the detainees are young people, some even under the age of 18.

The Celaya Secretary of Citizen Security announced that the city fire department responded to the fires and the roads were reopened to traffic.
