Century-Old Pasteur Institute Hit in Tehran Strikes

The 100-year-old Pasteur Institute in Tehran suffered extensive damage during recent US and Israeli strikes on the Iranian capital. Iranian Health Ministry Spokesperson Hossein Kermanpour strongly condemned the attack on the historic research facility, calling it a direct violation of international humanitarian law and global health security. Founded in 1920, the century-old institute is part of the International Pasteur Network and stands as one of the region’s most critical medical research centers. Alongside the strike on the facility, local officials report that ongoing bombardments have damaged approximately 33,000 civilian homes across the city. The widespread destruction has displaced nearly 1,900 families, forcing many into temporary housing complexes as municipal repair efforts begin.
