CH-47D Chinook to combat forest fires in Turkey’s Muğla

Under the direction of the Land Forces Command an CH-47 type twin-engine Chinook helicopter, which has a 10-ton water-throwing capacity, started operating for the first time as an air force to support the Turkish Armed Forces with both equipment and manpower to put out the forest fire in the Marmaris district of Muğla, Turkey.

Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu said, “Turkey’s largest fire extinguishing helicopter is responding to the fire in Marmaris, Muğla, with a capacity of throwing 10 tons of water in a single shot. Together with all our institutions, with all our efforts, our intervention and struggle continues.”

Chinook stands out from other helicopters with its maneuverability and high speed, and it can carry up to 60 personnel.
