Chiefs of Staff of NATO countries meet in Brussels

The NATO Military Committee Chiefs of Staff Meeting started at the NATO headquarters in Brussels, the capital of Belgium. Making the opening speech of the meeting, NATO Military Committee Chairman Admiral Rob Bauer stated that a new era has begun for NATO due to the war in Ukraine. Stating that in the past few months, NATO has demonstrated its ability to change its stance quickly and effectively, Bauer said that the basis of this response was the work initiated by the military committee years ago. “Ladies and Gentlemen, if there is one thing that the war in Ukraine has taught us, it is that we should never underestimate the importance of morale. To know what you are fighting for. The 3.2 million men and women who serve this Alliance know exactly what they are fighting for: the protection of our freedom and democracy”, Bauer said in his statement.

Representatives from Finland, Sweden and Ukraine also attended the second session of the meeting, where the war in Ukraine was discussed. A total of 7 sessions will be held within the framework of the Military Committee Meeting. After the sessions, NATO Military Committee Chairman Rob Bauer will hold a press conference. At the meeting, Turkey is represented by the Chief of General Staff, General Yaşar Güler.
