China battles record number of Covid-19 cases since 2020

In China, the number of Covid-19 cases has reached its highest level since the quarantine of Wuhan in January 2020. Heavy measures were reintroduced to combat the new wave of the pandemic, where teams appointed by the government began to distribute free food to those in quarantine.

China’s National Health Commission announced yesterday that 3,602 new cases of Covid-19 were detected in the country. Since the beginning of March, the cases has exceeded 10,000, and 1,768 new asymptomatic cases have been recorded at the same time, Chinese officials said.

A total of 3,067 symptomatic cases were detected in the Jilin province on Monday. In the province of Guangdong, 48 additional cases have been reported. There were 39 additional cases discovered in the city of Shenzhen, which is located in the province and is recognized as the country’s technology center. An alarm was issued as of Sunday evening due to the fresh wave in the city of approximately 13 million people, and public transportation services were canceled due to a partial closure. Furthermore, all municipal inhabitants were required to take nucleic acid testing at least three times. Bus service was also halted in Shanghai, China’s financial capital, where nine fresh cases were reported.
