China Criticizes US Tariffs, Warns of Retaliation

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi criticized US tariffs on China, stating that economic relations should be mutually beneficial and warning that Beijing would respond to pressure.

At a press conference during the National People’s Congress, Wang dismissed US claims linking tariffs to the fentanyl crisis, arguing that the issue was for Washington to resolve. He also warned against a return to power-driven global politics, urging major nations to avoid bullying smaller countries.

On international issues, Wang rejected US proposals on Gaza, reaffirmed support for a two-state solution, and called for a just and lasting peace in Ukraine. He also defended China’s stance on Taiwan, asserting it has never been and will never be an independent country.
