Clash at COP30 in Brazil leaves two security guards injured

Two security guards were slightly injured after protesters clashed with security during climate demonstrations at the COP30 summit in Belem, Brazil.

Hundreds of activists, including Indigenous groups, stormed barricades at the UN climate conference site to demand stronger forest protections and land rights. Police and UN security intervened after protesters broke through the main entrance, briefly halting activities.

The UN confirmed minor injuries and damage to the venue, saying security measures were reinforced. Protesters said they wanted to draw attention to deforestation and the exploitation of Indigenous lands.
