Climate activists scaled the roof of Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU) headquarters in Berlin to demand stronger environmental and social protections. The group, identifying themselves as ROBIN WOOD, rappelled from the building and unfurled a banner reading, “A clear stance against the right – end social cuts, fight the climate crisis.” Dozens of police units were quickly deployed to the scene to manage the high-profile protest. Urging the government to tackle the growing popularity of the far-right AfD party, the activists argued that “social justice policy is the best way to stop the further rise of the far right.”
