Three fishers who went fishing around the Empire offshore of the US state of Louisiana on Saturday were attacked by a shark after their boat sank. A rescue operation by the coast guard was performed with helicopters and a boat after the notice of the fishers’ families. The fishers were detected 40 kilometers away from the coast and taken to a hospital as two of the casualties had wounds on their hands.
The coast guards stated that the fishers did not have any communication device. It was also stated that if the families of the three did not report and the three did not wear life jackets, the incident would have resulted very differently.
