colorful terebinth rosaries attract great attention in Iraq

The terebinth-made rosaries in the park under the historical Erbil Citadel in the center of the city of Erbil in northern Iraq attract great attention. The colorful and unique rosaries are valued between 1 and 500 dollars.

“Most of these rosaries are made from terebinth trees found in the mountains in Sulaymaniyah, Raniye and Chaharkurna regions. The name of the rosary I have is Lareşe. It starts at $15. Some varieties are sold for 200 dollars and up to 500 dollars,” said Seyit Ahmet, local tradesperson.
