Critical Blood Shortage Hits Gaza Hospitals

A severe blood shortage is creating a catastrophic health crisis in the Gaza Strip as hospitals struggle to treat a surging number of casualties from ongoing Israeli attacks. The Palestinian Ministry of Health warns that blood banks are nearly exhausted, lacking 87% of the essential medical supplies needed for life-saving procedures. Medical officials report that while the demand for transfusions has skyrocketed, widespread hunger and malnutrition have drastically reduced the population’s physical capacity to donate. As a result, medical centers are relying on urgent media appeals to track down emergency donors, particularly for rare blood types like A-negative. Despite these grueling conditions, local volunteers continue to step forward, emphasizing that a single unit of donated blood can save a life amid the devastation.
