Cycling Group Commemorates Victims of Kahramanmaraş Earthquakes

A cycling group called Bisidestek in Izmir organized a cycling event to commemorate those who lost their lives in the earthquakes that caused destruction in 11 Turkish provinces on February 6. A total of 110 cyclists gathered in front of the Karşıyaka Mother of Atatürk and Women’s Rights statue and set off towards Alsancak, accompanied by police teams.

“Today is the first anniversary of the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş. We were present in the earthquake zone last year as a volunteer team. We provided support with our bicycles. We will do a commemoration ride today. Our aim is to bring awareness of the earthquake back to the agenda and to increase cooperation and awareness,” said Mustafa Karakuş, a Bisidestek member.
