Deadly Floods Hit DR Congo Capital

At least 30 people were killed in floods caused by heavy rains in Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, over the weekend. The Ndjili River overflowed, blocking a national highway and leaving drivers stranded for over 24 hours.

Power outages affected large parts of the city, and officials reported damage to water infrastructure. Governor Daniel Bumba Lubaki blamed some fatalities on illegal construction and warned of forced evacuations in at-risk areas.
