Floods in Northern Thailand Kills At Least 5

Severe monsoon rains in northern Thailand have triggered widespread flooding, leading to the deaths of five people and injuring 32 others. Over 12,000 families across 541 villages in seven provinces, including Chiang Rai, Lampang, and Phayao, have been impacted. The Disaster Prevention Department (DDPM) warned that heavy rains are expected to continue until the end of the month. With many roads closed, the Thai army and police are conducting rescue operations using boats and helicopters.

Thailand’s Prime Minister, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, expressed his concern, stating that the government is coordinating relief efforts and planning for water evacuation and damage repair to assist the affected communities.
