Deadly Storm Kills 111 in Northern India

A violent storm featuring heavy rain and hail has claimed the lives of 111 people and injured dozens more across India’s Uttar Pradesh state. Most fatalities were caused by collapsing walls and fallen trees, which also decimated local infrastructure and left many rural communities without power or mobile service. While emergency teams are working to restore communications and reach affected areas, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered immediate compensation payments and relief for those impacted. Opposition leaders have also called for expanded emergency support, urging the government to provide free medical care, food, and temporary shelter to the thousands displaced by the destruction.
