US-based Human Rights Watch (HRW) announced that the number of people killed in the protests against the tax increase bill in Kenya on June 25, in which the police intervened with real bullets, increased to at least 30.
Arguing that tax increases are necessary to reduce dependence on foreign borrowing, Kenyan President William Ruto said at a press conference that the public’s reaction to the bill passed by the parliament was taken into account, so he would not sign the bill.
