A powerful earthquake struck eastern Afghanistan, killing 800 people and injuring 2,500, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid announced. The worst-hit areas include Kunar’s Nurgal, Suki, Vatapur, Manuki, and Capa Dara districts.
Additional casualties were reported in Nangarhar and Laghman provinces, while homes were destroyed across several regions. Rescue operations are ongoing in remote mountainous areas.
