Death Toll From Cyclone Ditwah Surpasses 1,400

 

Deadly floods and landslides across South Asia have pushed the regional death toll past 1,400. Sri Lanka reported 474 deaths from Cyclone Ditwah, with 356 people missing and more than 1.58 million residents affected.

In Thailand, the death toll rose to 185, with authorities restoring utilities and providing over $31 million in aid to affected households. Malaysia’s toll remains at three.

Indonesia has recorded 753 deaths, with 650 people still missing. More than 1.5 million residents were displaced, and hospital ships have been deployed to support overwhelmed medical centers.
