Authorities in Thailand, where heavy rainfall has caused flooding since November 22, announced that the death toll from the floods has risen to 29. It was also reported that more than 33,000 people were forced to leave their homes in Pattani, Narathiwat, Songkhla, Nakhon Si Thammarat and Phatthalung provinces.
The Thai government has allocated a fund of 50 million baht (about $1.5 million) for each province affected by the floods, while 9,000 baht ($262) will be paid to affected families.
Six people died in floods caused by heavy rainfall in neighboring Malaysia.
