Death Toll from Floods Rises to 37 in Thailand

The Thai Department of Disaster Prevention (DDPM) reported that the number of people who lost their lives in the ongoing flood disaster in 11 provinces in the south of the country, affecting 762 thousand households, has risen to 37.

Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, who visited the flood-affected provinces of Nakhon Si Thammarat and Surat Thani yesterday, announced that her government is working to provide 9,000 baht to each financially affected household.

As a result of the floods, many city centers, towns and villages were flooded in the provinces of Chumphon, Ranong, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Trang, Satun, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat, and citizens whose houses were completely submerged were evacuated to emergency centers.
