Death Toll from Hurricane Helene in the US Rises to 105

 

The death toll from Hurricane Helene, which struck the US as a Category 4 storm, has risen to 105. The hurricane hit Florida and spread devastation across Georgia, Virginia, Tennessee, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Buncombe County, North Carolina, was hardest hit, with 30 fatalities and around 1,000 people still missing. Power outages persist, and efforts to clear blocked roads continue. With over 2,000 evacuees in Red Cross shelters and widespread gas shortages, the damage is estimated between $95 billion and $110 billion. The death toll may increase as recovery efforts continue.
