Death Toll From Indonesia School Collapse Rises To 50

The death toll from the collapse of the Al Khoziny School in East Java during midday prayers last Tuesday has risen to 50, according to the Disaster Response Agency (DAR). Officials said that 80 percent of the rubble has been cleared, and search operations are still underway.

DAR official Yudhi Bramantyo stated that additional body parts were found, suggesting the toll could reach at least 54. Deputy Director Budi Irawan said rescue teams are working to recover 13 people still trapped under the debris. “There has been no other disaster in the country in 2025, natural or otherwise, with more deaths than the Sidoarjo disaster,” he said.
