The number of casualties in the 7.2-magnitude earthquake that occurred at around 23.10 local time in the Al-Huz region, approximately 72 kilometers southwest of Marrakech, Morocco, is getting higher. According to the Moroccan Ministry of Interior, the death toll rose to 820 and the number of injured to 672. People in the earthquake zone are spending the night outside for fear of a second earthquake.
The historical walls surrounding the old city of Marrakech, which are listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List, have seen partial damage.
