Death Toll from Severe Floods Increases to 62 in Spain

The Emergency Coordination Center for the autonomous region of Valencia in Spain said the death toll from floods following a severe storm in the region has risen to 62. Over 1,000 soldiers from Spain’s emergency response units have been deployed to the affected areas, while the government has set up a crisis desk to help coordinate rescue efforts.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the European Union (EU) was “ready to assist” with rescue efforts.
