Death Toll From Twin Earthquakes in Venezuela Climbs to 1,943

 

According to Venezuelan National Assembly Speaker Jorge Rodriguez, the death toll from the 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes that struck on June 24 has officially reached 1,943. Rodriguez also confirmed that 10,571 people have been injured, with casualty figures continuing to rise daily. Massive search and rescue operations remain underway across the hardest-hit regions. Bolstering the local efforts, 27 countries have dispatched approximately 40 specialized rescue teams to the disaster zones. This international coalition features over 2,000 soldiers and emergency personnel, along with more than 160 trained rescue dogs.
