Dismissing initial earthquake reports, the US Geological Survey confirmed the disaster was actually sparked by a “glacial collapse and debris flow” that unleashed “catastrophic effects downstream.” In response to the overflowing Bhotekoshi River, over 5,300 Nepalese military and police personnel are currently conducting massive search and rescue operations.
