death toll in georgia landslide climbs to 17

The number of people who died in the landslide that occurred due to heavy rains in the mountainous resort town of Shovi in the Racha region of Georgia rose to seventeen. Eighteen people are still missing, according to the Emergency Management Agency.

Only seven of the deceased could be identified so far; DNA testing is underway to identify the other bodies. Search and rescue efforts in the area continue.
