Death Toll In Indonesia Protests Rises To 10

Human Rights Watch reported that 10 people have been killed and more than 1,000 injured in nationwide protests in Indonesia over lawmakers’ salary allowances. Authorities have detained over 3,000 people amid violent clashes.

Student groups and labor unions announced fresh demonstrations in Jakarta, demanding an end to police crackdowns and the release of detainees. The protests, which began on August 25, have seen deadly incidents, including a police vehicle running over a motorcyclist and a government building fire in Sulawesi.
