Death Toll in Myanmar Quakes Rises to 3,600

 

The death toll from the 7.7 and 6.4 magnitude earthquakes that struck Myanmar on March 28 has risen to 3,600, with over 5,000 injured and at least 160 still missing, according to the military government.

The quakes caused widespread destruction across six regions, damaging thousands of buildings, schools, religious sites, roads, and bridges. Rescue teams from 20 countries have saved 653 people so far. Security footage showed panic and structural collapse at Mandalay’s Mahamuni Pagoda during the tremors.
