Death toll of Stadium stampede in Indonesia increased to 131

The death toll of the stampede broke out, as the fans of Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya teams  fight, in a stadium field in Indonesia is updated to 131.

A police spokesman said that as a result of the work carried out by the police and a team called “DVI”, that identifies casualties, it’s been revealed that some people were not brought to the hospitals after the stampede, and that the officers only identified those who were taken to the hospitals.

Having visited the stadium, Indonesian President Joko Widodo said that the “locked doors and steep stairs” are the biggest problems throughout incidents of such stampedes and added, “We need improvements in the whole management, management of stadium spectators, time, security. It must all be fully audited so that this tragedy won’t happen again”.

Previously, the number of casualties had been declared as 174. However, it’s been restated as 125 as some of the casualties were mistakenly counted twice.
