The number of casualties is getting higher in the flood and landslide disaster in Petropolis, Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro state. In the latest statements, officials told that at least 117 people lost their lives and more than 100 people were missing due to disaster. Also, rescue efforts were disrupted from time to time, and many people began to evacuate the city in case of new floods and landslides. Meanwhile, one of the volunteers involved in the rescue effort said, it was now “almost impossible” to find the people trapped under the rubble.
