Death toll rose to 9 in passenger train accident in India

Death toll rises in the Guwahati-Bikaner passenger train that derailed near the town of Domohani in the Indian state of West Bengal on Thursday. Death toll rose to 9 in the accident that happened near the New Domohani railway station, according to Indian Ministry of Railroad Spokesperson Rajiv Jain. Jain stated that rescue efforts that started after accident have been completed and railroad has been cleared so that train services in the region can continue.

Senior railway official Guneet Kaur told the cause of the accident unknown yet and investigation regarding the incident is continuing. The Indian government will provide financial compensation to families of the deceased and all of the injured, Kaur said.
