Venezuela’s Vice President Delcy Rodríguez was sworn in as interim president after President Nicolás Maduro was detained by the United States on January 3. Speaking at the ceremony, Rodríguez condemned what she called an “illegitimate military attack” and vowed to protect national stability. She approved a state of emergency decree authorizing the arrest of individuals accused of supporting US actions against Venezuela. The decree will remain in force for 90 days, with a possible extension.
