Deputies brawled during a session in Slovakia National Council

The Deputies of the opposition and the ruling party brawled during the session in Slovakia’s National Council (Narodna Rada), when the military agreement signed with the US last week was discussed. Andrej Medvecky and Peter Krupa, the 2 Deputies of the opposition far-right People’s Party Our Slovakia (LSNS), tried to hinder the session by coming to the rostrum with a Slovakian flag. Later on, 2 other Deputies Jana Bitto Ciganikova and Miroslav Ziak from Freedom and Solidarity Party (SaS), one of the ruling parties that reacted to the situation, came to the rostrum with the Ukrainian flag and stood in front of the Slovakian flag.

While tension is rising up at session, Medvecky poured a bottle of water standing on the rostrum onto the Ukrainian flag. Meanwhile, LSNS Deputy Marek Kotleba came to the rostrum to support, took the Ukrainian flag from his colleagues and tore off Ziak’s face mask. After the session, Deputy Ziak said he would file a police report against Kotleba for “stealing” the flag. In addition to that, the Embassy of Ukraine in Bratislava reacted to the incident that happened in the National Council of Slovakia.
