Dilimli Dam frozen after air temperature dropped minus 30 degree Celsius in Hakkari

Severe cold after heavy snowfall in Yüksekova district in Turkey’s city of Hakkari, affects life negatively. The surface of the Dilimli Dam, where 9 kilometers from the district center and on an area of approximately 2.5 kilometers, was frozen after the air temperature dropped 30 degree Celsius below zero. In addition to that, the Dilimli Dam and the snowy mountains surrounding it created a wonderful landscape.

“We have seen that the dam has been frozen for 2 years. The winter season in Yüksekova is very harsh. The air temperature exceeds 30 degrees below zero. The cold lasts for about 4 months. We took pictures while we were crossing the road so we wouldn’t miss this opportunity, but our hands froze while we took it,” Mehmet Durna said while photographing the snowy landscape of the frozen dam.
