Sotheby’s auction house in New York, USA, hosted the highest-paid auction for a fossil to date. A dinosaur skeleton, approximately 3.4 meters tall, was sold for 44.6 million dollars in an auction that lasted more than 15 minutes.
According to the auction house, the buyer, whose name was withheld, said: “Apex was born in the USA and will stay in the USA.”
The skeleton, which is estimated to be sold for 3 billion dollars, belongs to the late Jurassic Period, approximately 150 million years ago.
