In one of the Turkey’s industrial cities Gaziantep, direct flights were launched to Erbil to further increase commercial and humanitarian relations with Iraq. The first passengers of direct flight between the 2 cities were sent off with the event held at Gaziantep Airport. Gaziantep Governor Davut Gül, Iraq Gaziantep Consul General Hasan Abdulwahad Majeed, Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin, Gaziantep Deputies and protocol members attended the event.
After the program, Gaziantep Governor Gül gave information about the Gaziantep-Erbil flights. “Iraq is the most important of our commercial partners. With direct flights, both Iraq’s relations with Gaziantep will increase and Gaziantep’s exports will increase even more,” Gül said.
Meanwhile, Iraq Gaziantep Consul General Majeed stated that the flights will further strengthen the relations between the two countries. “A very good and positive step has been taken in terms of reinforcing the relations between the two countries. Thanks to the flights, very good connections will be established between the two countries and great relations will be established. I believe that direct flights from Gaziantep to Baghdad will also start in the future,” Majeed said.
